Computerized Tomography (CT) Scans in Macomb, IL

Specialized X-Rays

Computerized Tomography (CT) is a specialized X-ray test that views the body in three-dimensional sections. It produces images that show both bone and soft tissues such as brain, chest, spine, abdomen, and extremities. Patients undergoing this test may be given a contrast to help highlight the different body parts. The contrast may be taken orally or injected. The patient lies on a padded table that moves in small increments through a donut-shaped scanner as the images are taken.

Please register in Admitting/Registration 20-25 minutes prior to your appointment. Patients can save time and pre-register by calling (309) 836-1753 between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • Most CTs require no preparation.
  • Some CTs require oral preparation. Please contact the Radiology Department to get the prep kit and instructions.
  • Always notify the technologist if you are pregnant.
  • Radiology staff will advise you if different preparations are required, as lab work is sometimes needed.
