MDH Announces Start of Flu Vaccinations

MACOMB, Ill. – With the calendar flipping to the month of October, now is the time to start planning for an annual flu vaccination.

By waiting until October, recipients will have longer coverage time into the later months of the flu season.

McDonough District Hospital will be offering flu vaccinations at several locations. Individuals need to bring their insurance card and ID. MDH will bill the patient’s insurance provider for the vaccination.

For those with no insurance or a high-deductible insurance plan, patients can pay by check or debit/credit card. The cost is $55 for individuals under 65 years of age, and anyone 65 and older a high dose flu vaccination cost is $95.

MDH’s Community Pharmacy is now offering flu vaccinations seven days a week during its hours of operation.

Patients can choose the MDH Drive-Thru to get a flu vaccination. The vaccination availability inside the Drive-Thru is Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The Convenience Clinic inside Health Services Building 2 in Macomb is open seven days a week for walk-in flu vaccinations: Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. (closed from 1-2 p.m.) and Saturday-Sunday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The MDH Family Clinic and Bushnell Family Practice will also offer flu vaccinations during normal business hours Monday-Friday. Patients will need to call and schedule an appointment.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends an age appropriate vaccination for the flu. Two flu vaccines will be available, one for ages 18-64 and another for age 65 and older. Anyone under the age of 18 should contact their primary care provider. Participants are asked to wear a short sleeve shirt as all shots are given in the upper arm.
