Parking Lot Resurfacing Work Begins June 11

MACOMB, Ill. – McDonough District Hospital announced starting Friday (June 11) resurfacing work will begin on the Health Services Buildings and MDH Drive-Thru parking lot, located on the south end of campus. The project is expected to last 7-10 days weather permitting. All main entrances at the Drive-Thru and both Health Services Buildings will remain open.

The entire parking lot and access roads will get resurfaced in six phases, which will also include new markings for parking lot spaces.

According to MDH Vice President for Business Development Adrian MacGregor, this resurfacing project has been a long-term need for MDH.

“The condition of our parking lot, where the majority of our outpatients park for their appointments, has deteriorated over the last several years. When discussions initially began to build the MDH Drive-Thru, we knew we needed to address the parking lot surface soon after construction was completed,” said MacGregor. “We are excited to begin work on the parking lot resurfacing project and will work to keep the inconvenience to our patients and staff to a minimum.

“Resurfacing the parking lot, paving the access road to the Drive-Thru, and resurfacing the access road between the HSB and main hospital parking lots will greatly enhance our campus. Making it more visible and easier to park, and having a brand new surface to walk into our buildings, will help create a positive patient experience when they visit our MDH campus,” said MacGregor.

As part of this overall project, MDH already replaced 23 parking lot light fixtures to brighten up the parking areas while saving on utility costs.

Phase 1 starts on the east side near the MDH Drive-Thru on Friday (June 11). That phase, along with a portion of phase 2, will conclude by Sunday.

The next two sections of parking (phase 4 and 5) will run Tuesday-Friday, with all work on phases 2, 4 and 5 completed by Friday night (June 18).

Phase 3 will be done in two sections, the north and south half of that section of the parking lot and road in front of both Health Services Buildings. That phase is scheduled for June 18-19.

The final portion, phase 6, consists of the access road between the main hospital parking lot and HSB parking lot and will run from June 18-19.
