Patients who come through the Emergency Department, hospital inpatients, and at clinic appointments can receive a COVID-19 vaccination

MACOMB, Ill. – Additional opportunities to receive a COVID-19 vaccination are available through McDonough District Hospital.

MDH announced its COVID-19 vaccination program expanded to now include: any patient of the Emergency Department, inpatients at the hospital, at the four MDH primary care clinics (Bushnell Family Practice, Family Clinic, Pediatrics, and Convenience Clinic) and the Obstetrics & Gynecology clinic. MDH will offer Pfizer for anyone 12 and older.

According to the latest published report, 36.8 percent of McDonough County residents are fully vaccinated as the county ranks 49th out of all Illinois counties (website: dph.illinois.gov). MDH Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer Wanda Foster noted this vaccination program expansion provides another convenient opportunity for anyone who has yet to get a COVID-19 vaccine and help stop the spread.

“We are pleased to have vaccine availability to offer COVID-19 immunizations at several MDH locations. As our state moved from ‘Don’t Waste a Dose’ to ‘Don’t Miss an Opportunity’ for COVID-19 immunizations, we want to provide access points that are convenient for our community,” said Foster. “When a patient or family member has the opportunity to discuss the immunization with their physician or healthcare provider, we want to be able to offer the vaccine in nearly real-time if the decision is made to take the immunization.”

Before an Emergency Department patient or inpatient at MDH is discharged they will have an opportunity to get a COVID-19 vaccination. Outpatients can call their primary care provider to schedule a vaccination.
