MDH Receives Certificate of Recognition from Illinois State Senate

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – During the State of Illinois’ 100th General Assembly, McDonough District Hospital received a Certificate of Recognition signed by State Senator Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) for receiving an “A” grade in patient safety.

MDH was one of 832 hospitals across the United States to earn an “A” grade during the Fall 2017 period. The Leapfrog Group announced grades for more than 2,600 hospitals late last month.

“I want to sincerely thank Senator Tracy (47th District) and the Illinois Senate for the Certificate of Recognition on our ‘A’ grade from The Leapfrog Group. This distinction from the Illinois Senate, and Leapfrog Group, could not have happened without our staff’s commitment to patient safety,” said MDH President/CEO Kenny Boyd. “I said before, this ‘A’ grade does not evaluate a single individual or department but our entire hospital’s health care unit.”

An “A” grade was awarded to MDH based on its performance in preventing medical errors, infections, and other harms while recognizing its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the United States.

Receiving Leapfrog’s patient safety grade marks the third national recognition earned by MDH this calendar year. Earlier this year, McDonough District Hospital was recognized as a ‘Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital’ by Becker’s Hospital Review, and also a ‘Most Wired’ Small and Rural Hospital by the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum.
