Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
One of the best ways to get involved is in your own community. This year, Giving Tuesday gifts will benefit the Reach Out and Read program. This program gives each MDH Pediatrics patient a new, developmentally-appropriate book to take home with them after a well-visit, from the age of six months to five years. At the end of the program, every Reach Out and Read child has a home library of books—each given with the advice to families that they are their child’s first and most important teacher. As they read and spend time together, families form lasting connections and children learn new skills that serve them well throughout their lives.
