MDH Wound Clinic Offers L.I.F.E. Course

MACOMB, Ill. – McDonough District Hospital will host a L.I.F.E. (Learning is ForEver) Course titled: Compression Hose, Not Just a Fashion Statement, But a Lifestyle. The class will be held on Thursday, October 17 from 2-3:30 p.m. in Auditoriums A & B, located on the lower level of MDH.

Led by Carolyn Grove, RN, BSN, CWOCN, this course will explain the anatomy and physiology of common causes for swelling in the legs. Grove will cover common factors associated with peripheral edema that can lead to open wounds, what to watch for, and how to treat those issues. 

Participants will also learn about the proper fitting and different types of compression barriers/hose, a common treatment for lower leg swelling.

L.I.F.E. is an organization dedicated to providing high-quality, low-cost, and enjoyable adult-education experiences. The Macomb L.I.F.E. program, organized by the Western Illinois University Study Abroad Department, is affiliated with the national organization Road Scholar: Elderhostel Institute Network (EIN). It is independently administered by area residents who develop the courses, select the teachers, establish the fees, and promote the curriculum.
