Macomb—McDonough District Hospital invites the community to a sneak preview of the new state-of-the-art Multi-Row Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner in the radiology department, Tuesday, April 17 from 6:00-7:00 pm.

The 160 detector row CT scanner creates cross-sectional images, or slices, revealing precise details of bones, organs, arteries, and other tissues. A quick scan allows less distortion and more accuracy.

New scanner technology decreases the procedure time and reduces the patient radiation exposure, according to MDH Radiology Department Leader Michael Lannery. Additional patient comfort features are available, along with a larger opening and a weight capacity accommodating patients up to 650 pounds.

“Improvements such as the CT scanner and current renovation of the laboratory space upgrade patient service areas and technology to enable community residents to receive high quality diagnostic services and patient care close to home,” said MDH President/CEO Kenny Boyd.

MDH has invested more than $1.5 million on the Toshiba unit and renovation of the CT scanner suite. More than $73,000 was raised through MDH Fund Development. The CT scanner was the 2010 fundraising project for The Festival of Trees, MDH golf tournament, Century Club and Business Honor Roll. Additional funds were also donated by MDH Golden Apple Society members.

The public is encouraged to attend the open house and learn more about the latest health care technology available for patients in western Illinois. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, please contact Public Relations at (309) 836-1557.
