MACOMB, Ill. – Starting the week of October 4, McDonough District Hospital will begin offering flu vaccinations.

Once again, MDH will offer flu vaccinations inside the MDH Drive-Thru during the month of October. Flu vaccines will be offered in the Drive-Thru Wednesdays-Fridays from 1-3 p.m.

The MDH Convenience Clinic will offer flu vaccines seven days a week during their operational hours: Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and also Friday-Sunday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Patients can utilize the Keep My Spot online scheduling tool to choose a convenient time for their schedules by logging on to www.MDH.org/KeepMySpot.

Patients of MDH primary care providers (Family Clinic, Pediatrics, and Bushnell Family Practice) can call their provider and schedule a time to get the flu shot at the respective clinic.

“Receiving a flu vaccination in the Drive-Thru facility is a convenient and safe option for our community,” said Deb Lawver, RN, Director of MDH Home Health Care. “Due to the popularity, we will again offer drive-up vaccinations at sites in surrounding towns.”

The Home Health staff will travel to surrounding areas for vaccinations in a drive-thru capacity. Those dates include:

October 11, 10-11 a.m. Bushnell: Farmers & Merchants Bank, 429 N. Cole Street

October 15, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Blandinsville: First Christian Church, 230 W. Washington Street

October 18, 10-11 a.m. Colchester: United Methodist Church, 218 W. McLean Street

The single best way to protect against the flu is to get vaccinated each year. The current COVID-19 pandemic makes getting a flu vaccine even more important to protect the health of individuals and their loved ones.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends an age appropriate vaccination for the flu. Two flu vaccines will be available, one for ages 18-64 and another for age 65 and older. Anyone under the age of 18 should contact their primary care provider. Participants are asked to wear a short sleeve shirt as all shots are given in the upper arm.

There is no out-of-pocket charge to the Medicare Part B recipient. Persons with Medicare Part B must present their Medicare card, and MDH will bill for this service. The flu shot is $40 for those ages 18-64, and $75 for anyone ages 65 and older.
