Your
Hospital Team
The
Medical Staff
The physician
who admits you is responsible for directing your care while
you are a patient in the hospital. Your physician, as the
coordinator for your treatment program, should be consulted
if you have any questions about your illness.
Meet
our physicians
The
Nursing Staff
Nursing
care is provided 24 hours a day by a team of professional
registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and nurses assistants.
A clinical coordinator is responsible for directing and coordinating
nursing care on each unit. Please feel free to contact your
nurse if you have any questions or concerns. Additionally,
the clinical coordinator or director will make an effort to
see you during your hospitalization. We encourage you to share
your thoughts and feelings about your hospitalization with
him or her.
During
your hospitalization, your healthcare teams goal is
to help you get back on your feet as soon as possible. In
order to help you get well, there are a few things you can
expect. There will be an admission process designed to identify
areas of illness or need. During admission, your nurse will
explain how to use the call light. Please use the call system
anytime you need to ask a question or have a need. Medication
will be ordered by your physician. If you have any questions
about these medications, please ask. We will assist you daily
with hygiene.
If you
are able and your physician says it is okay, showers are available.
If not, we will be happy to assist you with a spa bath. A
spa bath consists of a non-rinse cleanser that moisturizes
your skin. Your linens will be changed daily, and as needed.
When your
doctor feels you are well enough to go home, he or she will
write a discharge. A representative from Advocacy Services
may stop by to talk with you and your family. He or she will
assist you with arranging for special care or equipment. A
nurse will explain the care you may need after you go home.

about your diet or would like to speak with a dietitian, please
tell your nurse.
Pastoral
Services
McDonough
District Hospital believes that total patient care demands
attention to the spiritual, as well as the physical and emotional,
needs of each patient. A pastoral care provider is available
to you, regardless of your religious tradition. We would also
be happy to contact your personal clergy if you would like
us to do so.

Volunteers
McDonough
District Hospital is privileged to have a very dedicated volunteer/volunteen
staff. These volunteers contribute many hours of service and
financial assistance to the hospital. They supplement the
services of the hospital staff in many ways and can be identified
by their nametags.
