Special
Services
McDonough
District Hospital offers a variety of special services to
make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. You
are encouraged to take advantage of these services.
Mail
Letters
and packages are delivered each day. Letters and parcels that
are delivered after you are discharged will be forwarded to
your home. Stamps and stationery may be purchased in the Gift
Shop. A stamp machine is also available in the basement near
the cafeteria. You may give outgoing mail to a staff member,
and it will be mailed. Visitors may also drop mail in the
mail slot located near the cashiers office on the first
floor.

Flowers
Flowers
are delivered to your room by Volunteer Services. Every effort
is made to get plants and flowers to you as soon as possible.
Newspapers
Newspapers
may be purchased in the Gift Shop. Volunteer Services also
makes daily rounds to patient care areas so that you may purchase
a newspaper.

For
the Hearing Impaired
A
telecommunications device is available to help the hearing-impaired
or patients who want to communicate with a hearing-impaired
relative or friend. In addition, a sign language interpreter
is available upon request.
Interpreters
The
hospital has access to interpreters for a number of foreign
languages, if you should need it. Please speak with your nurse
or a staff member about this service.
