Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Services

Wound care nurses are available to provide specialized treatment and educational services for patients with the following conditions:

  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers
  • Arterial ulcers
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Problematic surgical wounds
  • Traumatic wounds
  • Open wounds of any kind
  • Fistula management
  • Skin breakdown
  • Colostomies, ileostomies or urinary diversions
  • Pouching problems
  • Peristomal/stomal complications
  • Skin problems related to diversion of bowel and bladder
  • Select collection devices for  urine / fecal incontinence
  • Drainage tubes / feeding tubes

Other services include the following:

  • Pre-operative ostomy education and pre-operative site marking
  • Post-operative ostomy patient teaching
  • Applications of Wound Vac Dressings or Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)
  • Multilayer compression wraps or UNNA boots
  • Conservative Sharp Debridement (by Physical Therapist or CWOCN)
  • Comprehensive pressure ulcer prevention program
