Carolyn Grove displays the patient mattresses that will aid in the prevention of pressure ulcers.

MDH has a Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) on staff full-time who is part of a multidisciplinary team. The CWOCN is available for consultation to patients in the hospital, the Transitional Care Unit, under Hospice or Home Health Care, or as an outpatient.

The CWOCN collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, physical therapists, dieticians, social workers, and other members of the health care team to develop and implement a well-balanced and comprehensive plan of care for wound, ostomy and continence (WOC) patients.

Outpatient appointments are physician-ordered. Patients are seen in Outpatient Wound Care Services located in the Rehabilitation Services department on the lower level of McDonough District Hospital.
