Sports medicine, or athletic training, deals with the treatment and preventative care of injuries to athletes and anyone who participates in leisure sports. Patients with various neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions receive both hands-on treatment and activity-specific exercise instruction. Our team of professionals also incorporates a patient’s work, hobby, or sport activity into a custom treatment plan. Educational materials, customized home exercise plan, and models are provided to enhance our patient’s understanding of his or her specific diagnosis or dysfunction.
Our athletic trainers travel weekly to area schools presently including La Harpe Jr. High School, West Prairie High School, and Bushnell-Prairie City Jr./Sr. High School. This outreach provides injury evaluation, education on proper management, and a home exercise program to aid in a quick recovery. Our athletic trainers also provide contracted game coverage, free injury screenings at our outpatient clinic and a sports clinic for Macomb high school and junior high athletes throughout the year. Follow-up care is provided to ensure improvement in injury status.
We can assist you with sports injuries, including:
- ligament injuries

The goal of Sports Medicine is to increase the range of motion, control pain, increase strength, and return patient to prior level of activity.
