Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics
MDH Emergency Services is a designated Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP) by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and by the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC).
MDH Emergency Services has been a designated EDAP facility since the late 1990’s. Our designation as an EDAP facility was renewed in 2011. The renewal occurs every three to four years.
The EDAP allows MDH emergency services to continue to provide the most advanced evidence based care and provide a focused approach in the care of the pediatric patients we serve.
Through EDAP, MDH Emergency Services has stringent policies and practices in place to assure that the most updated training and equipment needed for the care of pediatric patients is available. All staff (physicians, nurses, paramedics) is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Both the emergency department and ambulance contain specialized, pediatric sized equipment and medications to provide the best care possible.
