Behavioral Health Services offers a full range of counseling services, individual, group and family therapy, including:

Focused Therapy Groups:

  • Adult Children of Dysfunctional Families helps adult children learn new ways of coping with past experiences of growing up in a dysfunctional family.
  • Addictive Sexuality and Compulsivity Treatment Group offers education and support for those dealing with addictive sexual behavior.
  • Eating Disorders Treatment provides support, education and treatment to those affected by anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and obsessive/compulsive overeating.
  • Chronic Pain Group is for anyone who would like to learn techniques to more effectively cope with pain. Chronic pain is the number one cause of adult disability in the United States, and can result from a number of injuries and conditions, including back problems, arthritis, headaches cancer, and fibromyalgia.
  • Depression Group is a cognitive behavior therapy group to help people better manage their depression. This group is for adults only and is offered on an on-going basis one day a week.
  • Divorcing Parents Education Program provides an overview of the stages adults go through in the process of divorce as well as common emotions and behavior that children frequently display during a divorce. Parents will learn ways to help children cope with divorce.
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is a comprehensive cognitive-behavioral treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD), especially for those with chronic patterns of suicidal or other severe dysfunctional behaviors. Research has shown DBT to effectively reduce suicidal behavior, dropout from treatment, psychiatric hospitalization, substance abuse, anger, and interpersonal difficulties.
  • Getting Sober Group was designed to help people recognize signs of substance abuse and dependence. This group is for anyone age 18 or older who is contemplating whether their substance usage is problematic.
  • Transitions Group is an 8-week program designed for anyone age 55 or older who is facing transitions in their life. Individuals appropriate for this group include those facing retirement; changes in parental roles with children; the death of a family member or close friend; onset, continued, or worsening medical problems; and changes in income, mobility, and mental abilities, etc. Attendees will receive professional assistance in developing skills to cope with the range of changes and loss associated with the process of aging.

Substance Abuse Groups:

  • Outpatient programming for adults with chemical dependency to develop a new lifestyle that does not include alcohol or drugs.
  • The Aftercare Program provides on-going treatment and resources for those who have completed a higher level of care.
  • Adolescent Substance Abuse Program provides young adults and family members with the support, education and treatment needed to confront and overcome the effects of substance abuse.

Staff members work closely with their Medical Advisor, to ensure that all patient care needs are met in accordance with Behavioral Health Services’ philosophy of caring for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients.

The Behavioral Health Services treatment team brings together years of clinical experience, education and training to offer quality, customer-focused care to each individual in need of our services. Behavioral Health Services offers an initial assessment at no cost.

Behavior Health Services also offers a free annual Depression and Anxiety Screening. These screenings offer an assessment and a confidential counseling session with a member of the Behavioral Health Services team, as well as educational materials and referrals for those in need of additional resources.

Appointments can be made by calling (309) 836-1582. Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, 24-hour emergency access to staff is available by dialing the hospital operator.
