Congratulations to Kaila Fox, Registered Nurse in Emergency Services, on being named the recipient of the MDH APPLE Award for September 2011. APPLE stands for "Achieving outstanding Performance in Patient care, Leadership, Loyalty and Enthusiasm for MDH."

Kaila graduated with a Bachelors of Nursing degree from Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing in Quincy in 2009. Kaila began working at MDH on July 14, 2009 as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Services. Kaila is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Kaila’s credentials also include Emergency Communications Registered Nurse.

Kaila is an elite example of professionalism. She demonstrates a high level of clinical capability as demonstrated through good technical and critical thinking skills. She is an outstanding clinician who is motivated for continued learning. Kaila exhibits outstanding assessment skills and provides comprehensive histories. She presents herself as a professional and does a good job mentoring new employees.

Kaila demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills. She has good rapport with peers, promotes positive patient relations, and demonstrates a positive demeanor to all who interact with her. Kaila continues to earn high marks from her patients relative to patient satisfaction and is often commended for her customer service efforts.

Kaila is excellent to work with. She demonstrates solidarity with her peers to provide first-rate teamwork. Her peers explain that Kaila demonstrates a strong work ethic. She is a “wonderful nurse and incredibly professional.” Kaila works hard to provide patients with the best care possible. She is always smiling and is great to work with. Kaila proves consistently that she is a wonderful role model.

Kaila and her husband, Kory, are expecting their first child in the near future. In her spare time, Kaila enjoys reading, watching movies, and biking.
