WOC Services Relocated at MDH

The Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) Services at McDonough District Hospital has been relocated to the third floor south wing, effective Aug. 30. Previously the Wound Care Clinic was located on the lower level of MDH. The new location provides additional treatment and health physical therapy for women, men and children with wound, ostomies and continence conditions.

MDH WOC Services offer comprehensive care through a multidisciplinary team, including Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses (CWOCN), registered nurses who specialize in wound care, and a physical therapist. The MDH specialty staff collaborates with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to provide services to men, women, and children with wounds, ostomies (i.e. colostomy, ileostomy, urostomy), and continence conditions. Assessment and treatment is also available for other health issues including pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, and pregnancy/postpartum dysfunction.

"We have relocated treatment rooms to the third floor where the facilities have been modified to better serve the needs of WOC patients," said Peggy Jones, director of outreach services at MDH. "The third floor houses the WOC coordinator and staff and is also near the Diabetes Education Center, the Anticoagulation Clinic, nutritionists and other health education services."

A CWOCN and physical therapist are available for consultation in the hospital or outpatient setting. For more information or to schedule an outpatient appointment, please call (309) 836-1634.
