MACOMB INTERNAL MEDICINE PHYSICIANS JOIN MDH
McDonough District Hospital and Macomb Internal Medicine, LTD have announced that physicians David Reem, M.D. and Noel Flores, M.D. F.A.C.P. will become hospital employed physicians effective Aug. 1.
The agreement moves the practice under the umbrella of the MDH owned McDonough Medical Group. At this time the office structure for Macomb Internal Medicine will remain located on the first floor of MDH Health Services Building 2, across the hallway from McDonough Medical Group office of Erica Rotondo, D.O.
The addition of physicians in general practice to positions as employees of the hospital is increasing in the health care field as an approach to physician retention and recruitment, according to MDH President/CEO Stephen R. Hopper. With the announced retirements of Drs. T.K. and Gloria Cheng after more than 35 years of service to our community, the remaining physicians and hospital administration began discussions.
Patients of Macomb Internal Medicine will have no change in service and minimal if any change in paperwork as a result of the transition from independent practice to hospital owned status.
“In order to continue to attract and retain the appropriate number of qualified physicians to serve the health care needs of the people of our region, MDH has expanded its options to bring physicians into the community. In addition to assisting independent practices in recruiting, MDH has developed employment options,” Hopper said.
“In our current rapidly changing healthcare environment, we look forward to teaming with MDH to provide care for area patients, many of whom have recently lost their physicians, said Dr. David Reem, M.D. “We are hopeful that the recently implemented MDH Hospitalist Medicine program and McDonough Medical Group will improve our opportunity to recruit and retain quality primary care and subspecialty physicians to the area.”
At this time Macomb Internal Medicine offices will remain at 515 E Grant St., Suite 111; telephone 309-837-9926.
