MDH DRIVE AND PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS SCHEDULED

Contractors will begin improvements to the south west section of the main drive at McDonough District Hospital starting as early as Monday, October 12 resulting in a narrowed traffic lane during the construction project.

The driveway improvement is in preparation for the laboratory area expansion and stairway tower construction. The hospital renovation project requires adjusting the drive on the southwest side of the building and removal of some reserved parking for medical staff and visitors.

The roadway will be kept open at all times with at least one lane of westbound traffic by the emergency room entrance. Individuals who use the main entrance are encouraged to exit the hospital visitor lot by travelling to the south exit of the parking area and proceed east toward the Elms Nursing Home to turn north for Grant Street.

Repair work will also be completed on the Medical Arts Building parking lot, east of the hospital. The work on the parking lot will be completed in phases to allow for use of approximately half the parking area during construction.

Laverdiere Construction of Macomb will do the concrete roadway work which may take up to eight weeks, according to the specification prepared by McClure Engineering of Macomb.
