Congratulations to Danielle Jones-Koile, Registered Nurse in Obstetrics, on being named the recipient of the MDH APPLE Award for May 2011. APPLE stands for "Achieving outstanding Performance in Patient care, Leadership, Loyalty and Enthusiasm for MDH."
Danielle earned an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Scott Community College in Bettendorf, Iowa, in 2005. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa, and at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City from 2005 through 2007. Danielle then began her current employment as a Registered Nurse in Obstetrics at MDH on November 5, 2007.
Danielle is an excellent charge nurse and utilizes her resources to optimize patient care and customer service. She is an eager problem-solver and strong patient advocate. She has strong communication skills. She is constantly prepared for emergencies and controls them by making logical, sound decisions. Patients often comment that Danielle gives them attention by regularly checking on them and asking to be of assistance and trying to ascertain their needs before being asked. Her initiative is an area of strength.
Danielle has a high level of customer service skills. She is friendly and welcoming to new staff and students. Danielle is a role model for the department, and her personality is buoyant and upbeat.
Her nominator states, "Danielle was so accommodating and pleasant. She was very hospitable as I waited overnight to be induced. As I asked her questions, she answered them clearly and provided me with the information that I needed to make the right choices for me while also giving me alternatives to choose from that I may not have considered otherwise. Her compassionate personality and her wonderful laugh made the experience a more comfortable and relaxing one. I appreciated her kindness more than she knows."
Danielle is married to Tim Koile and has two daughters, Jacey and Jozey. In her spare time, Danielle enjoys cooking and photography.
