School of Radiography

Established in 1970, the School of Radiography at McDonough District Hospital is a 24-month, full time certificate-based program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology

Students of the radiography program get clinical experience in the MDH Radiology Department which houses state-of-the-art imaging equipment featuring digital radiography and a Picture Archive Communication System (PACs). Diagnostic imaging services include General Diagnostic X-rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Mammography, Ultrasound, and DEXA Bone Densitometry.

MDH is accredited by The Joint Commission.

During the radiography program, students spend 40 hours each week in the didactic/clinical setting. The program consists of lectures, demonstrations, lab experiences, and supervised clinical experience. When not in the classroom, the students spend time in the clinical setting with the staff radiographers and radiologists performing various radiologic procedures. Students are assigned increased responsibilities as they complete various competencies of the program.
