Services:

Skilled and high-tech nurses provide medical care that requires special training, such as intravenous treatment, wound care, injections, and education about managing medical diseases and conditions.

Physical therapists use specialized equipment and exercises to improve muscle strength, flexibility and mobility.

Occupational therapists provide help in improving activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing and eating and provide equipment to make activities easier.

Speech therapists help improve the communication skills of patients affected by a stroke or surgery and can assist with improving breathing and swallowing functions.

Home infusion therapy may be ordered for intravenous (IV) antibiotics, pain management, total parenteral nutrition, as well as enteral feedings. All are required to be under physician orders and are provided with comprehensive patient/caregiver education.

Medical social services addresses social problems in the home setting, including assistance with stress management, coping skills, evaluation of the patient support system, and linkage to community agencies and resources.

Certified home health aides assist patients in performing their daily activities.

Each October - December, MDH provides community flu shot clinics in several locations. The vaccine is recommended for all persons age 65 and older; residents of communal living; any child or adult who has a serious, long-term health condition; and caregivers and household members of people at high risk.
The Home Health staff at McDonough District Hospital covers a multi-county area to promote, maintain, and restore health in the privacy and comfort of the home environment.
Our highly qualified Home Health care staff offers services to the acutely, chronically and terminally ill in need of nursing care or rehabilitation therapy. This includes high-tech nursing care, home infusion therapy, wound care, and physical, occupational and speech therapy.
Medicare and Medicaid cover Home Health Services. In addition, Home Health care is covered under most insurance plans, including HMOs and managed care organizations.
Home Health is Medicare-Certified, licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission.
