*Spouses who are eligible for insurance at their place of employment or school are not eligible for MDH's Health or Dental Insurance. Benefits are effective on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.

Educational Scholarships

McDonough District Hospital and the Auxiliary to MDH have established funds for students to help financially fulfill their academic goal in a healthcare field. The Auxiliary Scholarship Fund offers assistance to students and current MDH employees enrolled in a curriculum leading to a career in a health-related field or to MDH employees who wish to expand their skills through additional course work, job-related seminars, or professional certification programs.

Scholarships available are the Gabbert Nursing Scholarship, the Gayle and Ron Peterson Nursing Scholarship, the Donna M. Twomey Nursing Scholarship, the Maxine Simeral Scholarship, the Haldon and Hazel Curless Nursing Scholarship, the Carolyn J. Baumann Nursing Scholarship, the Winona Winters Scholarship, and the Dr. George Roodhouse Health Career Scholarship. Applications for these scholarships may be made in conjunction with the Auxiliary scholarships.
