Congratulations Jamie Draughan, Social Services Associate in Advocacy Services, on being named the recipient of the MDH APPLE Award for January 2012. APPLE stands for "Achieving outstanding Performance in Patient care, Leadership, Loyalty and Enthusiasm for MDH."

Jamie graduated from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Social Work Degree in May 2009. She began her employment in her current position as Social Services Associate in Advocacy Services on August 13, 2009. Jamie is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Social Work from University of Illinois.

Jamie is very professional. In her role, Jamie assists individuals with discharge needs. She strives to plan ahead and has discharge plans arranged in a timely manner. Jamie has good documentation skills, and she is able to identify and discuss problem situations with tact. Jamie asks appropriate questions in order to see the entire picture of the situation. She listens attentively and provides feedback in a tactful, compassionate manner.

Jamie is very accommodating. Jamie offers to assist her co-workers on a regular basis and often volunteers to work with new cases that come in later in the day. She adjusts her work schedule to meet with demands of the department and willingly works on her days off when they need an extra hand or when census rises. She also volunteers to take low census as needed. She works well with other disciplines and strives to keep the patient care team updated about discharge planning. Jamie is always responsive to needs from the nursing staff.

Jamie has an A+ attitude! Jamie maintains a positive and professional demeanor with coworkers, patients, and families. She is quiet, considerate, and a pleasure to work with. Her nominator states, “Jamie portrays a quiet thoughtfulness which is a comfort to those she serves in times that can be stressful. She is also able to keep a sense of humor even when under stress.”

Jamie and her husband, Patrick, have two sons, Jordan and Carson. Jamie enjoys baking and cleaning. Other free time that she has is spent attending school to earn a master’s degree.
