MDH Childbirth Class Series To Begin August 23

Macomb---McDonough District Hospital will offer free Childbirth and Infant Care classes beginning with a 4-Week L.A.T.E. Childbirth Instruction class to be held on consecutive Thursday evenings, August 23, through September 13.

This four-class series will be held from 7:00 to 9:15 PM at MDH, in Auditorium B, lower level. The series will explain the stages of labor: Latent, Active, Transition, and Expulsion (L.A.T.E.), as well as breathing and relaxation techniques to make each phase of labor as manageable as possible. Taught by experienced OB Nurses, the series will use games and humor to make this a rewarding experience for the participant and her support person.

Other class options include Cesarean Section Class, Postpartum Care and Understanding Your Newborn, Breastfeeding, Nutrition for Pregnancy and CPR/First Aid. Pre-registration is required and there is a nominal fee for the Nutrition and CPR/First Aid classes. Classes can be arranged by calling (309) 833-4101, ext. 13464.

MDH CPR/First Aid Classes are offered on a regular basis throughout the year. We encourage parents to take a CPR and First Aid Class prior to the baby’s arrival to learn valuable safety tips and techniques. Please call MDH Outreach Services at (309) 836-1584 to register.
