MDH Auxiliary Accepting Applications for Health Career Loans and Scholarships

Macomb—The Auxiliary to McDonough District Hospital is now accepting applications for health career loans and scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year.

The Auxiliary Scholarship Fund offers assistance to students enrolled in a curriculum leading to a career in a health-related field or to McDonough District Hospital employees who wish to expand their skills through additional course work, job-related seminars, or professional certification programs. Available is the Ruby Teel Health Career Scholarship, the Gabbert Nursing Scholarship, the Gayle and Ron Peterson Nursing Scholarship, and the Donna M. Twomey Nursing Scholarship. In 2012, the Ruth Dexter Scholarship for Nursing was established and is for MDH employees pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing at WIU. Applications for all scholarships are made in conjunction with the Auxiliary scholarships.

Interested persons may also apply for additional funding through the MDH and Auxiliary loan program. Upon completion of the education, loan recipients may repay their loan in full or if employed by MDH, may apply a portion of their salary or hourly wage ($1 per hour worked) toward repayment of the loan. Recipients who are not employed at MDH can make arrangements for an interest-free repayment plan.

For more information, call (309) 836-1577, or pick up an application in the Human Resources Department on the lower level of the hospital. Completed applications must be submitted no later than June 1, 2013.
