MDH Athletic Trainer Supports Student Athletes

MACOMB, IL -- McDonough District Hospital Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) Marc Kessler was named the Head Athletic Trainer at Macomb Sr./Jr. High school starting this August. The agreement between MDH and Macomb High also includes supervision of Western Illinois University’s Athletic Training Education Program students who provide coverage for Macomb Jr./Sr. High school practices and games.

Junior and Senior High School student-athletes are evaluated for injuries daily by Kessler and the WIU student trainers. As needed, a plan of action is developed including referral to the physician or for follow-up treatments which can be provided in the athletic training room on the school site.

“Our mission as a Sports Medicine staff is to get student-athletes back on the field in a safe and timely fashion,” Kessler said.
