Kappa Pi WIU Student Art on Display in MDH Lobby
MACOMB, IL--Western Illinois University students from Kappa Pi international art fraternity and two WIU art faculty members have items on display in the McDonough District Hospital front lobby.
The hospital and art department entered into the exhibition agreement last fall to allow the art of students, faculty and selected works from the University Art collection to be displayed in the MDH front lobby. The current exhibit began March 2 and includes paintings and jewelry and three dimension objects.
WIU student members of Kappa Pi with works on display include Cassandra Causey, Mercedes Martinez, Tanisha Wisslead, Andy Laverdiere, Krissy Bergquist, Tyler Herald, Chelsey Mallery, Ashley DeCasteele, and Liz Bystry. The exhibit includes works by art professor Susan Czechowski and department chair Charles Wright.
The purpose of the project is to provide a welcoming visual respite to visitors as they enter the hospital. The works of emerging student artists, along with that of Western’s alumni artists, and faculty will be exhibited. Appropriate selections from the WIU Gallery will also be exhibited. Exhibits will be updated throughout the year and focus on one single artist or a group of artists.
