Dr. Sujata Karkare To Join MDH Medical Staff
MACOMB, IL-- McDonough District Hospital has announced that Sujata Karkare, M.D., Ph.D. will join the MDH Medical Staff as a primary care hospital employed physician practicing Internal Medicine starting Monday, June 4, altaccording to MDH President/CEO Kenny Boyd.
Dr. Karkare has been a staff physician at Western Illinois University’s Beu Health Center since August of 2000. She has been Board Certified in Internal Medicine since 1999 and worked in private practice at Lamoine Valley Clinic, Macomb from 1998-2000.
“We are pleased Dr. Karkare will provide primary care to area residents,” Boyd said. “It is important that the MDH medical staff continues to add physicians to meet the health care needs of western Illinois.”
She received her medical degree in 1988 from the University of Bombay, India, and completed her residency at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) Kent State University. Dr Karkare is currently licensed to practice medicine in the states of Illinois and Ohio and is a member in good standing of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the McDonough County Medical Society.
She has completed scholarly research on cellular and molecular biology which has been widely published in professional journals. She currently serves as a Medical Advisor to the McDonough District Hospital Outreach Service Diabetes Center, a Physician for the McDonough County TB Sanitarium Board and a Medical Advisor for the Bella Hearst Diabetes Fund at Western Illinois University. She previously served on the CARDIA Project committee and the McDonough/Hancock County Illinois Asthma Community Collaboration Development Initiative.
Dr. Karkare has professional interests in multiple areas of internal medicine and has been a Keynote speaker on a variety of health issues including those for women and ethnic/minority populations in the campus and community.
