Andrea Sears
Nurse Assistant in Acute Care
Congratulations to Andrea Sears, Nurse Assistant in Acute Care, on being
named the recipient of the MDH APPLE Award for February 2007. APPLE stands for
"Achieving outstanding Performance in Patient care, Leadership, Loyalty and Enthusiasm for
MDH."
Andrea started as a Nurse Assistant in Acute Care on September 9, 2005. She is currently
attending Spoon River College in her pursuit of becoming a registered nurse.
Andrea is a wonderful employee! She works so quietly that one hardly knows she is here. She is
dependable and helps her peers and department by picking up extra shifts and trading shifts as
needed. She is team player who is always willing to do what is assigned, assist where needed,
and do anything extra that comes up during her time at work.
Andrea has an excellent rapport with patients, visitors, and staff. She is an excellent preceptor
and mentor for new nurse assistants and is always professional in both appearance and behavior.
Andrea excels at identifying patients’ signs and symptoms that need brought to the nurse’s
attention.
Andrea's nominator states that she is a joy to work with. The nominator continues, "As a
registered nurse, I have complete faith that my patients are in kind and skilled hands when
Andrea is assisting. She is knowledgeable in all aspects of her job. She is an excellent resource
for new nursing assistants. She treats her patients with dignity and respect. She goes above and
beyond."
In her spare time, Andrea enjoys fishing and spending time with family and friends.
